The perfect training group to get your training started or go back to basics. This 6-week course will teach essential life and training skills in an outdoor setting where you really need your dog to focus and listen! With a different skills focus each week, you will learn how to use kind, simple, and effective methods to teach your dog so you can build a cooperative relationship, and lay the foundations for more advanced distraction training in the future. Lessons are tailored to the group based on everyone's specific training goals. Skills focuses include: - Enrichment and activity week This week will not only help the dogs (and humans!) settle into their first week in a new environment around other dogs and people, it will also introduce you to many training games and activities you can do both at home and on your walks to build calmness, confidence, and stimulate their mind. - Focus and reward week This week we dive into what YOUR dog's reward preferences are and you'll learn how to deliver them effectively for the best results. We get started with some fun focus games for you to take out and about on your walks. - Lead skills week You will learn how to reinforce your dog for calm and connected lead walking, what to do when they pull, how to get out of sticky situations quickly, and get started with lead walking around the distractions of other dogs. - Recall skills week Learn how to establish an enthusiastic and consistent recall and keep them close and connected when they are off lead. - Manners and self-control week Learn how to reinforce good greeting habits to stop jumping up and transform your "I'll just help myself" dog, to a "could I have that please?" kind of dog! - Distractions week We pull it all together for the final week where you will learn how to advance all of their skills around the biggest distractions - dogs, people, food, toys, etc.! Whatever is on your dog's distraction list, you will learn training games to work through them so your dog can respond no matter what! The group includes six 45-minute training sessions, supportive online training content, and weekly homework.
